Mixed results

Today the results for semester one of 2010 came out and I had both good and bad results. The good were very good, but the bad were quite perplexing. I really thought that I'd get a better make for the SRP. I'm phoned up the supervisor of the subject to ask where I went wrong. She didn't mark it so she didn't know. Instead it was marked by another teacher. I'm going to have to ask him as I'd really like to know. I'll just have to see what he says.
My results for the first semester 2010.

As for the rest, I can see why I didn't get a good mark for epidemiology as it was a tough subject. I had a great group for my Integrated Environmental Management class so getting a HD was not impossible and I'm totally amazed that I got a HD for GIS. Even now I only know the very basics and still am unsure as to what exactly metadata is. All up the results were okay and I'm quite pleased but I'm just amazed that I didn't do as well as I thought for the SRP, especially as each assignment took twice as long and had twice the amount of work than any of the others did. It's especially bad as I took my final report to the teacher to look over it in order to get the best mark that I could. Obviously that plan backfired.

Not bad results at all Ry! Two HDs, that's great! You should chase up the tutor/lecturer/whoever marked the SRP and find out exactly where the mark fell down. Shame the teacher who looked over it before you submitted it wasn't the one who marked it! I think you've done very well though. Congrats!

The bad thing is that the teacher who looked over my assignment was the one who marked it! I spoke to him this afternoon and he said that although it was a 'solid' effort, Apparently I didn't go into enough depth (although we weren't really told how much depth to go into) and my readability wasn't as good as the other two people who did the SRP. It's still very frustrating to be 3% short of a distinction.

I thought your marks were great. If I had done it, I would be extremely happy to have received a pass. Some of the subjects are amazingly hard. Well done Ryan, I think you can be very very proud of yourself

I think you are too hard on yourself, Ryan. A credit is a good mark, DN great and HD is fantabulous! Maybe you are taking this study business a bit too seriously.... in the grand scheme of things, or in 10 years time, will it matter why you achieved a CR when you were expecting something more? You'll still get your degree and the job of your dreams, lol...

I've applied for a HP job in Tassie - phone interview this Thursday!

Cadence x

It's a shame because that was the one subject that I REALLY tried at. I asked what was wrong with it and all he could say was readability. I know that I had plenty of detailed information and even did a bit of projecting the toxicity compared to the control. The I don't think the others did that! Saying that it was because of the readability is a poor excuse. The kind of thing that you come up with if you're on the spot and don't really want the person to be able to say 'that's crap' about the marking. Compared to the other's my must have been near illegible for me only to get a credit!
